Primobolan Depot is the injectable version of the steroid methenolone and, although it has a weaker effect than Deca-Durabolin, it is a very good basic steroid whose effect is predominantly anabolic. The fact that an enanthate ester is added to this steroid allows a slow and gradual release from the injection site. This addition allows for a longer half-life of about 14 days (similar to Testosterone Enanthate), although most athletes prefer to administer it weekly.

The popularity of Primobolan is due to the fact that it is the only steroid that seems to work well on a low calorie diet (making it a preferred pre-competition drug) and side effects are rarely a problem as it is relatively non-toxic and low in androgens and it does not convert to oestrogen (aromatised), therefore oestrogen related side effects are not a problem. In addition, it seems to have a positive effect on the immune system (hence its popular use with AIDS patients) and the fact that it mainly adds muscle mass leads to a strengthening of the whole body system.

When you consider these facts, it is hard to believe that Primobolan Depot is not legally approved by the FDA in the United States – but that’s politics for you!

Now, having said all this, it must be said that Primobolan has its side effects, including mild acne, deeper voice and increased hair growth (these effects result from the androgenic residual effect). However, it has low liver toxicity and usually has little effect on blood pressure and cholesterol, making it one of the safest injectable anabolic steroids. It should also be emphasised that the body’s own testosterone production is only reduced with prolonged use of high doses.
